Akimat of Almaty and IFC signed a Cooperation Agreement
The Almaty City Akimat and the International Financial Organization (IFC) signed a Cooperation Agreement to improve access to long-term commercial external financing in the form of green bonds.
As part of the agreement, IFC will continue to provide free technical support to the city administration in order to improve the legal framework for attracting long-term external borrowing in the national currency.
Preparations are also ongoing for a pilot external financing transaction, potentially in the form of a municipal green bond, the first of its kind in Central Asia.
This work is in line with the state policy for the development of the Almaty agglomeration, which requires the formation of a sustainable and "green" infrastructure.
