Kazakhstan and India: Developing Cooperation in the Pharmaceutical Sector
The Kazakhstan–India Pharma Business Meeting was held in Almaty. The event was held to develop cooperation between pharmaceutical companies in Kazakhstan and India.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov delivered a welcoming speech and emphasized that the participation of leading Indian companies demonstrates the desire to strengthen multilateral economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and India.
"More than 12 thousand Indian students currently study in Kazakhstan, with the majority enrolled in medical universities. This reflects the high level of trust in Kazakhstan’s education system and creates a strong foundation for future ties in healthcare and medical research. A clear example of this is the recent investment project by India’s MSN Group to construct a full-cycle pharmaceutical plant in the Almaty region," said Alibek Kuantyrov.
In his speech Akim of Almaty City Darkhan Satybaldy emphasized that cooperation with India continues to actively develop: in 2025, trade turnover between Almaty and India amounted to 337 million US dollars. The pharmaceutical industry remains a priority: modern clusters are being formed, research centers are opening, and drug production projects are being launched.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan Silas Thangal Yangdenglungtu Kahum noted the importance of the business forum and the possibility for developing long-term economic relations between the two countries.
The forum included presentations of Kazakhstan's investment and pharmaceutical potential. Aliya Abdildina, Project Manager of KAZAKH INVEST NC JSC, spoke about the company's activities, areas for bilateral cooperation, and investor protection measures. She also invited Indian business representatives to the country to develop localized production of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.
The Indian delegation included representatives of leading pharmaceutical companies and industry organizations in the region, including Acies Pharmaceutical Pvt. Ltd., Abaris Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Akriti Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd, AMTEC Health Care Pvt Ltd, and others.
